When entering Sheer through a lovely court yard on Philipsburg's Front Street, you will feel like entering a temple of haute cuisine. This elegant and intimate restaurant does indeed render a cult to high gastronomy at its best.

The interior of Sheer is fully air conditioned and perfectly lighted for an intimate dinner, and the beautiful wall mirrors and paintings contribute to the pleasant ambiance surrounding the guests. Everything seems absolutely neat and sparkling. Guests will at once be pampered by the friendly and very professional staff, starting with the highly qualified barman taking care of the impressive, trendy and huge bar.

Sheer's owner, Valentin Davis, has build up first class resorts and upscale, highly rated restaurants, some of them in the neighbor island of Anguilla. And as expected, Sheer's cuisine is a collection of irresistible gourmet delicacies. The cuisine is European, with an original Caribbean touch: Classical French or Italian dishes are used in savory and surprising compositions, where island flavor often provide a new tasting experience: All this thanks to the talent of award winning chef Dave Trotman.

As impressive as the menu is the Sheer's wine cellar: "La Cave de Josianne", named so in honor of his mother Josianne Fleming, is a treasure cove of fine wines from the whole world: Wines which you never may have seen on the island before but still at acceptable prices.

Although Sheers is intimate and perfect for a romantic evening, the restaurant also offers the perfect ambiance for bigger parties, like birthdays, weddings and anniversaries. It offers a private dining room, can organize court yard cocktail parties and other events. And the bar and lounge, with its wide screen TV, is a great setting for watching sports competitions with friends. Sheer also functions as an art gallery and often presents the work of famous painters.

Sheer also allows for outside dinner and now also proposes a menu for outside lunch, in the beautiful and secluded court yard opening to Front Street.
