Arts and Culture at Porto Cupecoy

After a hugely successful launch in December 2010, the Arts in the Plaza festival, hosted at Porto Cupecoy, continues to celebrate great works of visual, musical and performing arts by extraordinary artists from St. Martin, the Caribbean, and the world.

Clara Reyes, founder of the Imbali Center for Creative Movement; Roland Richardson, the iconic artist often called the “Father of Caribbean Impressionism,” along with wife Laura Richardson; Neville York, one of the most recognized steel drum players in the world; and Thierry Gombs, Director of Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs – St. Martin, are tasked with selecting the variety of artists and performers that are featured during each festival.

“Arts in the Plaza has quickly become a popular event among both international travelers and locals,” says Reyes. “

Along with festival champagne specials, the restaurants and shops of the plaza stay open late, offering specials of their own. The marina also extends complimentary dockage on all festival nights for mega- yachts and pleasure-craft visitors from St. Barth’s, Anguilla and other marinas. Just call in advance 599 545 2318 option 6.

With new performances and exhibits each month, a full listing of artists and performers will be announced prior to each event at www.portocupecoy.com.
