For such a small island, St. Maarten/St. Martin can be proud of its numerous artists and its prolific cultural life. Painters, sculptors, musicians and writers constantly immortalize the island's culture and the mesmerizing beauty of its nature. Numerous Dance Schools and Theater Groups on both side allow children and adults to develop their talents and show the astonishing results during regular performances.

The island's multicultural society is without doubt the source of such artistic accomplishment, a successful mixture of centuries of different traditions and cultures. Several painters and other artists working in St. Maarten/St. Martin have won international awards and exhibit their work in the numerous art galleries on the island and elsewhere in the world. Francis Eck paints the nature of his island in brilliant primary colors such as red and blue. Sir Roland Richardson is famous for his impressionist paintings of the flamboyant-tree.

Musical artists usually play on different daysin several bars and hotels of the islandAmong the most famous island musicians, Leroy Brooks, known as King Beau Beau, keeps the Caribbean tradition

	of calypso alive during his numerous performances, for instance on Monday evening at Oyster Bay Resort. And if you like jazz, don't miss a performance by saxophonist Connis Vanterpool. Those are just a few of the several excellent musicians which provide great entertainment in the numerous music bars of the island.
