Like we all do, Buccaneers loved good food! Did you know that those pirates of the Caribbean used the Arawak "buccan" - a wooden frame - to smoke meat?
The restaurant Les Boucaniers, located in Nettle Bay on French St. Martin, doesn't use a buccan to prepare meat. But it certainly kept the tradition of good French Creole dishes alive, by serving the best Creole cuisine can offer. And for those less inclined to traditional island delights, Le Boucanier also specializes in classical French gastronomy.

Visitors will love the airy and elegant restaurant, with its tasteful Caribbean decoration and located directly on the beach. If you love the sea breeze, choose a table in the restaurant's garden on the beach.
You certainly will be tempted to relax in the comfortable lounge for aperitif or sip a glass of champagne at the large and well furnished bar. And after you have made your choice on the menu, a very knowledgeable maître will recommend to you the perfect wine to accompany your lunch or dinner. |
|
To learn more about Creole cuisine, the perfect choice is the Creole plate, with an assortment of typical island fish and vegetable dishes.
Fresh marinated tuna and other seafood delights are very appreciated in St. Martin and prepared to perfection at Les Boucaniers.. Do not miss one of the chef's original composition: Everything is light and full of flavor, leaving enough space for the main dish. |

Fish, like the perfectly seared tuna, is also an option for the main dish. And meat lover will be impressed by the rack of pork or the beef filet served in a creamy sauce.
And what about ice cream topped with fresh strawberries and Chantilly cream for a dessert?
Of course, do not forget the "digest if": a French liquor, cognac, or an island rum to end a beautiful, gastronomic evening.
