Swiss and Savoyan Restaurant
It's easy to enjoy a great dinner in St. Martin, since the island is after all the gastronomic capital of the Caribbean. But did you ever imagine an authentic Swiss dinner? If the idea of cheese raclette and other Helvetic delights appeals to you, visit Le Chalet in Sandy Ground on the French side of the island. This is the only Swiss restaurant you will find in the Caribbean. Just leave your skis at the entrance please! |

Ever smiling Isabelle and her partner, Stéphanie, will receive you in the cozy decor of this place, that really looks like a mountain lodge in the Swiss Alps. Skis are everywhere, as well as original mountain paintings and maps of ski slopes.
As soon as you sit, Isabelle will explain to you everything about the house's delicious Swiss and Savoyan dishes.

First, there is CHEESE, cheese, and cheese again..., starting with the world renown raclette, the Savoyan, French Alps, and the Swiss version. Both use different types of cheese. Raclettes comes with unpeeled boiled potatoes and a choice of typical cold cuts or salads. Then there is the equally famous cheese fondue, as well as several, less known but equally savory melted cheese specialties. |
Then comes the meat. Although not Swiss, the "Fondue Bourguignonne" is a big favorite in the cold Swiss and French Alps. It is world famous ,and at Le Chalet, it is served in the most authentic way.
Furthermore, Le Chalet offers a great choice of excellent meat dishes, like the "Pierrade" - row meat served to sizzle on a hot stone, as well as delicious cuts of beef, exclusively imported from France. And last but not least, taste the mouth watering sausages, salami, hams and dry meats, all contributing to the glory of Swiss cuisine!
Adding to this comes a great choice of perfectly fresh salads, to be enjoyed as first dish or as side plate .Even if you are a vegetarian but eat cheese, Le Chalet is the perfect dinner place for you.
And what about a chocolate fondue? Gourmets and gourmands will be delighted. But if you prefer sweets as a dessert, Le Chalet imports specially made Swiss ice-creams, which come in many tastes unknown to most of the people. You will find the endless flavors on the chalk board.
As for wines, many of them come from Switzerland and the French alpine region of Savoie: Exactly those which fit with a Swiss dinner. And those mountain liquors ...Again, you will hardly find another opportunity to taste them in the Caribbean! |
Le Chalet is really a unique restaurant in St. Martin and the Caribbean. A highlight in the island's gastronomy, it constantly attracts tourists and locals alike. Do not miss this superb dinner experience! It is your great opportunity to taste authentic Swiss cuisine.
