It's not the first time that famous island artist, Ruby Bute, organizes an artistic event at her Silk Cotton Gallery in Friars Bay, on the French side of St. Martin.
Ruby, a known painter, poet and story-teller constantly surprises the culture and art lovers of the island with her new events, mixing art and culture with family fun and offering an opportunity to socialize.

This time, on December 5th, her gallery presented the most recent and some older works of painters Ruby Bute, Lucia Trifan and Stephanie Tihanyi. The theme was "Life" beautifully illustrated by those three well known artists. Ruby Bute, recently distinguished with a lifetime achievement award, celebrates life in the full beauty of maturity, with colorful scenes of musicians and carnival. But like always, Ruby and her assistant Marian Jno-Finn did more than presenting an art exhibition. t was also the opportunity to inaugurate the new gazebo on the gallery's grounds, in the presence of Dutch Governor Eugene Holliday and French side President Gumbs. This gazebo will be used for future social events.
Many visitors, friends, art and culture lovers spent a beautiful afternoon: Everything was done to entertain. Famous saxophonist Connis Vanterpool offered a great jazz performance. Ital food - especially vegetarian pizzas and sushi attracted the hungry, local drinks were served and Christmas Guavaberry was on sale.
