Antigua and Barbuda - A Sailor's Paradise

Information Pages

Antigua is proud of being one of the greatest destinations in the world for yachting, sailing and boating; this isn't surprising, since our several well equipped marinas and anchorages are located in absolute mesmerizing and pristine surroundings. Just imagine yourself sailing into historic Nelson's Dockyard, dreaming that you just came back from a naval battle against the French! Thanks to the excellent facilities and services offered in our marinas, thousands of "boat people"dock every year along our coasts. Some are attracted by our famous regattas and Boat Show. Others can't wait to charter a yacht and sail around our islands. From mega yachts for the very rich and famous, to romantic sailing boats for nature lovers and power boats for speed amateurs: everything is available, the choice is yours.
If you are a qualified skipper, bare boat charter is available mainly at English Harbour, Nelson's Dockyard, Falmouth Harbour and Jolly Harbour. Several of the most renowned international charter companies are based in Antigua, and you can charter a boat by day or by week.

If you don't know much about sailing, you still can offer a great sailing trip to your family. Crewed charter boats are available at the already named locations. Professionals will do everything for you, from sailing to cooking, or take the kids to snorkel.

A car has its limits, and to discover the island world of the North Sound, the better choice is to book a sailing excursion. There is a large offer of excursions, by catamaran, sailing boats or even "pirate vessel". We suggest a circumnavigation of Antigua in catamaran.
The boat departs at Dickenson Bay, and takes you on a fascinating voyage along the coast. You will navigate around the northern coast and sail through the coral reefs of the northern Atlantic shore. There, discover the hidden beaches of Bird's Island and snorkel in the translucent and turquoise waters; navigate along deserted islets until you reach the ragged and rocky coast farther South.

Soon you will reach Fort Berkeley and enter world famous English Harbour, where you will stop at Nelson's Dockyard. After departing, you will pass the breathtaking rocks called "The Pillars of Hercules" and head for the western coast and back to your departure point. This excursion is certainly the easiest way to discover the numerous beaches, the rugged shores and the coral island world of Antigua; all this in one day, sipping as many rum punches as you can while enjoying the comfortable deck of a catamaran.
