ANGUILLA

Anguilla is a small island, a British oversea-territory located in the Caribbean Leeward Islands. Anguilla is essentially flat, with some coves surrounded by rocky outcrops, and several deserted cays with stunning beaches. The main island too is surrounded by unique white sand beaches and turquoise waters, a dream for people searching for the three big S's: Sand, sea and sun! For some people, this is the lifestyle of their dreams!
Some of those beaches are nearly always empty, others are lined by first class hotels. Anguilla has become a destination for the rich and famous: Many hotels are world class and, like the island's beaches, always end up in some travel magazine's or website's "Best of the world" listing. |

The same can be said about Anguilla's restaurants: Many of them are in top class hotels, some in nice beach locations. They too are mostly top class. Anguilla is growing organic vegetables and fruits, but most of the products are coming from nearby St. Martin. But like everywhere, there are some hotels and apartments, as well as restaurants at more affordable prices. Generally, considering the degree of pampering visitors enjoy at the high class resorts, you probably will get the best of everything there and won't bother to look around for anything else. |

The interior of the island is mainly flat scrub, and there are no big towns to visit, although the capital, The Valley, has some shops and boutiques. .But the clear and calm sea widely compensate the absence of hills and forests. Anguilla is a very good island for diving and snorkeling.
Do not expect great duty free shopping, for that you better take a plane or ferry to the nearby island of St. Martin. Entertainment is to be found in the big hotels, there are some nice beach bars and attractive music festivals. Forget about casinos, adult entertainment clubs or topless sunbathing on the beach: Anguilla's people are religious and intend to preserve their local culture. |

Services in Anguilla are in accordance with the general lifestyle on the island. Anguilla is basically great beaches, good diving, sailing, classy hotels - no time share - and upscale restaurants. If you can afford to let yourself being pampered in resorts with all kind of amenities in stunning tropical surroundings: if you don't care about running through shopping streets and spending long nights in discos: if for you "life is a beach", then Anguilla may well be your holiday destination! |

Event May 24th to 28th: First Literary Festival (Literary Jollification)
A festival dedicated to literature, arts and culture, organized by Anguilla Tourist Board. Authors, actors, poets, publishers and historians will discuss, present conferences and their books.
