Pizzeria - French Cuisine
|
Known for many years for its great pizzas, the restaurant Au Grain de Sel on the French side of St. Martin has always been an insider tip, appreciated by visitors and residents alike.
Recently taken over by a charming couple, Ghislaine and Gustave , Au Grain de Sel has become even more seducing to its clientele, thanks to its warm, cozy Caribbean style interior design and the warm familiar atmosphere which Ghislaine and Gustave have managed to create.
Always wanting to learn new styles of cuisine, Ghislaine has been for several years an oriental cuisine chef in Paris. Later, she and her husband run a very successful restaurant for five years in Morocco. After having operated the restaurant "LA MERE FAITTOUT" in Morocco, Ghislaine and Gustave combined their experience in Oriental and French gastronomy, adding their knowledge of other world cuisines.

Au Grain de Sel kept its beloved pizzas on the menu, but Ghislaine came up with an original idea: Instead of restricting themselves to the traditional, Italian style pizzas, they created the Gastronomic French pizza, with a thin and crunchy crust and fresh products, inspired by the regional culinary specialties from France. A huge map of France, with the names of the different pizzas associated to the regions allows guests to navigate through all kind of delights, until they found the right pizza for their taste!
Some pizza creations even cross the French border : We loved the Oriental pizza, with Merguez and flavored with captivating Moroccan spices. And you can choose between a single pizza - with prices between 7 and 11 Euros - or a XL family pizza priced between 10 and 14 Euros.

Aside of the pizzas, Au Grain de Sel offers classical French cuisine at prices hard to find anywhere on the island: Dishes include meat, fresh fish, salads, desserts and a daily menu, as well as specials in the evening. Many dishes can be ordered for home delivery at no extra cost.
The house also has a good selection of wines from France, Chile, Argentina and Italy.
