Urmain Dormoy has been involved in music from a very young age. Playing trumpet, percussion and singing are some of his musical passions.
As an artist, Urmain also dabbles with paint, creating wonderful worlds of art. His paintings will open
your mind to wonder and imagination. Bold and colorful are his color schemes. His topics always flow
from musicals to flower gardens, abstracts and erotic scenes.

Over the years, Urmain has created an impressive art collection: in each and every painting, you will discover the marvelous world of the Caribbean, with its people, birds, flowers, its underwater world, its musicians: Powerful representations of this part of the world's rich nature and cultural diversity. And yet, his works have universal value, as do the dreams and the bounderless imagination.

Urmain's daily life flows from one passion to the other. One time he is fully engaged in the music and will be performing at various clubs throughout the island, while at another time he can be preparing for an exhibition of his art works.
For the last three years, he has taken a passion of dedicating his time with youngsters from the age of 4 through 16. Urmain formed the Generation New Status Drumband, where he teaches the children not just the art of drumming, but the respect and discipline needed to take them through life. The importance of culture, arts, peace and education is the message that is stressed through their songs and performances. |

Urmain is dedicated to the upkeep and enhancement of the St. Martin culture. He formed the Soualiga Jump Up Brass Band in 2003. This group made a big impact during the carnival parades and other official and cultural events taking place on the island. |
